Esther and Doug serve with SIM, an international mission organization with more than 4,000 workers serving in more than 70 countries. They have 28 years of missionary service, first in Bolivia, South America with Spanish-speaking and Quechua-speaking peoples, and more recently at the SIM International Leadership and Services team and the USA Global Mission Center in Charlotte, NC.
What do we do with SIM?
Because of the ALS, Esther recently stepped down as the Personal Assistant to the Deputy International Director for the Americas, helping SIM workers and leaders in North, Central and South America. Doug is the Deputy Finance Director and Director of Relationship Development Ministry. Our ministries with SIM include mobilizing and supporting cross-cultural workers that are:
- Responding to Need
- Proclaiming the Gospel
- Equipping the Church

We are incredibly blessed with the love and support from our Heavenly Father, our four children, two daughter-in-laws, and four grandchildren, extended family, the Windy Gap Life Group, fellow SIMers, the Fort Mill SC ALS Support Group, the Carolinas ALS and MDA Center, and our church families at Steele Creek Church of Charlotte, Hawthorne Gospel Church, Greenpond Bible Chapel, and Ocean County Evangelical Free Church, and many other friends throughout the world who love us, pray for us, and support us! We would not make it without you!
A promise that we hold dearly:
In you our fathers put their trust;
they trusted and you delivered them.
They cried to you and were saved;
in you they trusted and were not disappointed. Psalm 22:4-5
