Fully funded!

van

Would you celebrate and give thanks to God with us?  By God’s grace, a total of $53,000 was given and or pledged to SIM to help cover:

  • $35,000 for a 2012 Honda Odyssey Braun Ability Van.  It was previously owned by two families in our ALS Support Group.
  • $1,000 for EZ Lock modifications to the van and wheelchair
  • $7,700 for our portion of the Quantum Q6 Edge 2.0 power wheelchair.  It is now being assembled and will be delivered soon.  In the meantime, we have a loaner chair from the Carolinas Neuromuscular ALS and MDA Center.
  • $2,500  for SIM service fees
  • $6,800 for income tax withholdings

Gifts came from people  and churches around the world, including some from people whom we have not yet met.  The final pledge for $5,000 came in today from the ALS Foundation for Life.

This now means increased safety and mobility for Esther.  Praise the Lord!

The cure

The cure

Currently there is not a cure for ALS.

Esther is blessed by the care of Dr. Benjamin Rix Brooks, an internationally-known research physician specializing in ALS.  He and his team at the Carolinas ALS and MDA Clinic  provide excellent care for Esther.  They are dedicated to finding the cure through their research and clinical trials. They passionately care for ALS and MDA patients’ needs through a multidisciplinary clinic all under one roof.  It makes checkups easy.  We can’t thank them enough!  Let’s pray for the cure for ALS!

Here at SIM we are dedicated to sharing the best cure of all, the best healer of all;  Jesus, and how He gave His life as a ransom to pay the penalty for our sin.

SIM workers respond to need, and that includes the work of hundreds of SIM medical professionals bringing medical cure and care in mission hospitals and clinics in the most under-served locations. We declare the gospel, the cure for sin that allows us to be forgiven, be transformed, and enjoy a new relationship with our loving Heavenly Father. We equip the church worldwide to be salt and light in a dark and fallen world beset by sin, hatred, terrorism, and other evils.

There is hope in Jesus. He is the cure that all of us need!   All we need to do is cry out by faith to the crucified and risen Jesus, and ask Him to forgive our sins and save us.  He will not disappoint!

“Seas Of Crimson” (Bethel Music)

For every curse, you’re the cure
For every sickness, you’re the healer
For every storm, you’re the calm
For all that’s lost, oh, what a savior
On that cross of calvary
Every burden has been defeated
Every wretched heart redeemed
You drown our sins in seas of crimsonHallelujah death is beaten
Christ has risen from the grave
Hallelujah it is finished
All to you the highest praise
Hallelujah death is beaten
Christ has risen from the grave
Hallelujah now and forever
All to you the highest praiseOn that day of utmost glory
All of darkness cannot tarry
Every shackle will come undone
My solid rock thine is the kingdom
Where there was sin your love rushed in
Where sin runs deep your grace runs deeper
For all enslaved the ransom paid
Light of the world, yours is the power

Where there was sin your love rushed in
Where sin runs deep your grace runs deeper
For all enslaved the ransom paid
Light of the world, yours is the power

How are we are doing?

It has been difficult, but we are learning to trust God day by day.  Esther is experiencing increasing weakness.  Heidi, Erica, and I share the privilege of caring for Esther, and it’s working out. I am now working from home in the afternoons. The Carolinas ALS and MDA Center is loaning us an electric wheelchair until Esther’s new wheelchair becomes available.  It can take 2 to 3 months to clear insurance and to manufacture.

Please pray with us:

  • that the disease will stop or slow, and for a cure
  • to fully rely on God’s grace and strength
  • for opportunities to shine for Jesus
  • and for our search for a gently used handicapped van.
